Sinner (Poem)

Sinner

Through the trees I can hear your song

Calling out “You’ve done me wrong”

A fading cry of days gone past

It seems my time has come at last

A sinner’s life, they say I’ve led

So many hurt and left for dead

You think me mad for what I say

But soon will come my judgement day

I will not beg, and I won’t repent

I don’t care now just who they’ve sent

Not quite sure what you think I’ve done

Don’t need forgiveness and I’ll ask for none

They’ll draw their rope and hang me high

And none shall mourn, not a soul shall cry

But through the trees they will hear my song

Calling out “Now you’ve done me wrong”
